THE POWER OF THE TONGUE

Other’s words impact our lives
Whether for better or for worse.
The way we choose to use our tongue
Can be a Blessing or a curse.

Think of a rudder on a ship
It determines the ships direction.
The fate of those aboard
Rests on the captain’s course selection.

Do you ever think about your tongue
It’s really not that large.
But the power that it wields, good or bad
Depends on who’s in charge.

The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life
But a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
It reveals the content of our heart
And affects all who hear it.

A great deal of pain we have
Comes from what’s been said.
Words can cut us like a knife
And echo in our head.

When we’re consumed with anger
And don’t care what we say.
The pain that we deliver
May never go away.

A wise man’s heart guides his mouth
And his lips promote instruction
When God’s Word is our council
God’s love is our conduction.

We need to think before we speak
Each and every day.
Soon the words we love to hear
Will become the words we say.

When we cast down words that curse
And use God’s word to heal.
The True Power of the Tongue
Is the Blessing that we reveal.
