FOOTBALL (THE POEM)

To some football is just a game
and as silly as it seems.
It captures so many imaginations
and fulfills so many dreams.

There are those who hate or ignore
this brutal game men play,
They just Don’t understand
football fans on game day.

But if you look with open mind
behind the football scene
There are more than just big kids
who make up football teams.

There’s young and old, rich and poor
and men from every race.
There’s those that coach and those that play
and those who just fill space.

But etched upon every face
you’ll find the threads that bind
are heart and soul, blood and tears
and a joining of their minds.

Conviction of commitment,
courage, ability and brains.
Working towards a common goal
through the triumpths and the pains.

To be your best when all seems lost
and never loose the flame.
To never waver from team goals
through the disappointments and the fame.

It’s not just learning how to win
but how to loose with grace
It’s never giving up on yourself
in even ultimate disgrace

So for those of you who don’t understand
why fans hold this game so dear
Look at the excitment on their face
during that special time of year.

The hopes and dreams of champions
bring a magic to their life
A chance to share a victory
over the turmoil and the strife

A common bond between strangers
who suddenly are friends
Riding this emotional rollercoaster
Until the very end.

And when the seasons is over
and there are no more games to play
The bond between football fans
will never go away.
